Altenew Stamp/Die/Storage Pouch Release Blog Hop + Giveaway

This is my 2nd post for today.

Warning: super-heavy photo post!

Hello friends!
An exciting release blog hop over Altenew is happening today! Yay!
If you come from the fabulous Terhi Koskinen 's blog, you are in the right place.
There are NEW stamps, dies and storage pouches (nice and sturdy!!).
Let's get the card party started, shall we?
I created my first card with one of the many gorgeous stamp sets called Charmed.

This 4x6 Charmed set comes with one large hand drawn stamp, a few small decorative images and some beautiful font. The sentiment allows you to mix and match.
I took an almost No-line Water-coloring approach. The large floral image was first stamped in Peach Perfect and them clear-embossed in Crystal Clear Embossing Powder. I then painted the images with Altenew Ink and water.

The glitter tape are such a great addition to add that pizzazz! I also added White Nuvo Crystal Droplets for extra dimensions and interest.

My next two cards are all about Halftone Hearts Stamp Set AND now Halftone Hearts Nesting Dies.

I love using matching die and stamp as you can create your own unique pieces. I did some multi-color stamping. Then I did the die cut with the matching die accordingly and then pieced them all together in one piece. The hearts become one large seamless heart piece!
(If interested, you can see my previous You Tube video that demonstrates this technique).

By the way, did you see the gold-embossed vellum heart piece? It's actually a piece of scrap. I ended up using it as a piece of underlay. I love a beautiful mistake, don't you?

One of the great products about this release is...
Envelope Liner Die
The Envelope Liner die allows you to create an insert that will fit perfectly inside the A2 size envelopes (such as these here).

And...take a look at the extra dies that come with this Envelope Liner Die  set! Wow, right?

Altenew_EnvelopeLiner_Virginia #1

Now where is the missing gold-embossed heart? It's in my next card! 😀
This card is very straightforward. For the gold-embossed vellum, I added a piece of heart die cut underneath to keep the vellum piece strong and sturdy.

I highly recommend Halftone Hearts Stamp Set AND now Halftone Hearts Nesting Dies for your year-round all occasion cards.
The following card was created with this exquisite Cover Die called "Doodled Lace" Cover Die

Altenew_DoodledLaceCover Die_VirginiaLu#1

I love the ease of using a cover die. To me, they guarantee "success"!

The font from "More Than Words" are gorgeous.
I think it goes with any types of cards, especially floral cards!
Altenew_DoodledLaceCover Die_VirginiaLu#2

The faux stitched lines are also what makes this Doodled Lace" Cover Die special.
Last but certainly not the least....
This Fantasy Floral Die is the BOMB!
I can't believe the dimensions and details that the dies give!
The flower dies come in 3 layers and they are super easy to line up. No guess work involved!
To create the colorful pieces, I misted Altenew Metallic Shimmer Ink Spray. Once dry, I made the die cut and ensemble.

Again, I used one of the sentiment from "More Than Words".

In order to create some interest in the background, I took the leaf dies and ran them through die cut machine with Spellbinder Dry Emboss Tan Mat.  I love the subtle letterpress effect in the background.

I have MORE ideas with the Fantasy Floral  Die and will share them in my posts in the near future. Again, this layering die is a must-have

Don't forget to check out the AWESOME Storage Pouches (Large and Medium). They are super sturdy and user-friendly!

Wedding Party Invites

Hello friends!
I am popping in with a post about the customized cards that I made for a newly engaged couple. These cards are meant for the wedding party. The sentiment are requested by the bride and groom. I thought that they are original and personalized.

So I took out the SSS Flower Medallion Cling Stamp and did some silver-embossing. I wanted to have some white space and did some coloring. Since I planned to make two cards, I kept the designs simple. This ornate stamp truly speak volumes!

will you-001

With Penny Black's Stitched Flower Clear Stamp, I made one for Maid of Honour.

I did multi-color stamping to show off the details of this stamp (the top one).
will you be my maid of honour

I am pleased to say that the bride and groom were happy with my customized cards. The hardest part of making this card is to stamp each and every letter with the right spacing and colors! I used this handy dandy Avery Elles "Alphas" Stamp.

Here's my random vacation photo share
Titanic Belfast: During our British Isles cruise, we spent 4 hours at the world's biggest Titanic Museum while we were in Belfast. And boy, it was titanic....and amazing. It even has a little ride similar to the Disney ones!

.... The building's design is intended to reflect Belfast's history of shipmaking and the industrial legacy bequeathed by Harland & Wolff. Its angular form recalls the shape of ships' prows, with its main "prow" angled down the middle of the Titanic and Olympic slipways towards the River Lagan. Alternatively, it has been suggested that the building looks like an iceberg, and locals have already nicknamed it "The Iceberg"...."
I hope today's post makes you smile!
Thanks so much for stopping by!

Simple Stamping and Embossing

Hello friends!

Do you get overwhelmed by new techniques, new products, new gadgets, new tools....
new everything?
As a mother of two adult children, I used to tell the kids to make new friends when the new school year came along. The kids always looked at"Making new friends is not that easy!" So often times, they just loved hanging out with their old friends. Can you blame them?

Today's card is just that--revisiting our first love of card-making:
stamp and embossing, nothing more.
There is no fancy technique (such as masking) involved, either.
Altenew_Build-a Flower_Anemone_VirginiaLu#4

This is one of the 4 cards that I created with the latest "Build-a-Flower" Anemone stamp set without using the matching die (included in the kit)!

The delicate outline images were embossed with Golden Peach Embossing Powder
(shop Simon Says Stamp here). Once the flowers were embossed, I applied Maple Yellow Crisp Dye Ink (shop SSS here).

Hope this post makes you want to get together with your old fav--stamping and embossing.

Altenew Post--The Versatility of Layered Blossom Cover Dies!

Hello friends!

warning: heavy photo post

After taking a break from my traveling, I am happy to be back over Altenew Card Blog to share my latest creations!

You can also purchase these dies separately over Altenew here and Simon Says Stamp here

This set of cover dies have just the right amount of space and opening. If you can do simple die cutting, you will not be disappointed with the results that you achieve. Like most Altenew Cover Dies, you can use each cover die (whether it's A or B) alone or both. My examples will illustrate and help you see the versatility of these cover dies.
Altenew_Layered BlossomDie_A+B_Virginia #1

For my first card, I used the Cover Die A and Cover Die B. To get the colors to my liking, I inked up each small area with a small sponge. I love color-blending with Altenew Inks.  The inks I used for this card are Pocketful of Sunshine Oval Set, Warm and Cozy Oval Set, Tropical Forest Oval Set and Sea Shore Oval Set.

Altenew_Layered BlossomDie_A+B_Virginia #2

To prevent the colors getting into the other unwanted area, I used some small scrap paper to cover up as I sponged along. This may seem tedious, but it really is well worth the effort. Can you believe that this card requires zero stamping? The sentiment are from the Inline Alphabet Die Set and Script Words Die Set. I even took a short cut and used the 6x6 Reflection Paper Pad for the word "love".

Altenew_Layered BlossomDie_APlate_Virginia #3

My Next card shows how you can use the delicate Layered Blossom Cover Die A to create an intricate design.
Altenew_Layered BlossomDie_APlate_Virginia #1

To keep the color scheme simple and elegant, I applied the new Deep Blue Seas Oval Set and used each shades of blue to its full potential.
Altenew_Layered BlossomDie_APlate_Virginia #2

I also took some drastic cut and trimmed off a few sections and edges off the Cover Die A. The sentiment from Crafty Friends seems perfectly fitting.

My last card is all about the Layered Blossom Cover Die B.
Altenew File

You may not see it clearly, but I did use the Crystal Clear Crisp Embossing Powder. Not only it makes this project shine, it also blocks off the pink/orange and blue. Again, there's no stamping involved. The "thanks" sentiment is from The New Day Card Kit.

Altenew File1

I truly hope these 3 cards give you some inspiration and that you can maximize the use of each/both cover dies. Thank you for reading this long post.
